It has proved to be a valuable musical training ground for both young and more mature players.
The Band has played for many charitable causes, raising thousands of pounds. Venues have often been local churches, but on occasions as far away as Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Norwich etc. It has also appeared in the King’s Lynn Festival.
Rehearsals take place in Leziate Village Hall, Brow of the Hill, Leziate, King’s Lynn PE32 1EN, on the first and third Mondays of the month. The band welcomes musicians who wish to enjoy playing Swing and Jazz.
The Band plays music by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, all by top arrangers. Many songs are vocals sung by top singers. Typical numbers include: ‘Get Happy’, ‘String of Pearls’, ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing’, ‘Moonlight Serenade’, ‘Moondance’, ‘Tuxedo Junction’ and many more.
Centre Stage Swing Band is available most times and fees are moderate to suit the occasion.
